Andy Sulick brings his passion for Catholic education to Partners in Mission from the perspective of an alumnus, teacher, coach, administrator, and the current President of Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Southern California.
Andy joined the Partners in Mission team to lend his expertise in Catholic school leadership from a wide range of roles, including administrative, coaching, enrollment management, strategic planning, advancement-based improvements, and community engagement.
Andy's service-driven mindset and mission stem from his early experiences as the son of a United States Marine Corps officer and a Catholic school elementary teacher. He began his teaching career at his alma mater, Santa Margarita, in 1996, where he not only taught in the Social Studies department but coached football and golf. In 2001, he left Santa Margarita for the corporate world, gaining valuable experience while working for FedEx over the next two years.
In 2003, Andy began his post as the founding Director of Admissions at JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, CA, where he built a team and a department from scratch while bringing the school's enrollment to capacity in eleven years. While at JSerra, he oversaw not only admissions but also advancement and athletics. Ultimately, his successes at JSerra propelled him into the role of Assistant Headmaster in 2012.
Andy was appointed President of Santa Margarita Catholic High School in 2014. His proven record of success in enrollment marketing, advancement, business insight, administration management, and deep ties to alumni serve him well as President. Since his return to the Eagles, Andy has restructured the administrative team and created several new positions to optimize and serve the SMCHS families. He also revamped the school's annual fund program and the primary school fundraisers, which now average a yearly profit exceeding $2 million. He led his team on capital projects and campus improvements totaling over $12 million, including academic enhancements, student life, performing arts, and athletics. In 2021, Andy led a $1.75 million campaign to build the Caritas Christi Center, encompassing the Campus Ministry, Activities, and Wellness departments. The Wellness department now has four full-time therapists to assist families and employees.
Along with his team, Andy established the Santa Margarita Eagle Foundation in 2019, a rare achievement for a diocesan school.
Andy guest lectures and speaks at area schools, colleges, and non-profit organizations and sits on various boards, including WellSchool, which focuses on mental health/wellness/mindfulness in high schools, and several partner school boards.
Andy holds a Master's degree in Catholic Educational Administration from Loyola Marymount University and a Bachelor's degree in Education/History from the University of Redlands. He lives in Southern California with his wife, Julie, and three adult children, who attended Catholic schools from pre-K to 12.
