Walsingham Academy, a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg, seeks applications for the position of Upper School Director.

Founded and sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy in 1947, the Upper School serves a diverse student body of approximately 225 students in grades 8^th through 12^th, drawn from a 25-mile radius of historic Williamsburg. The Academy is situated on over 30 acres and includes a Lower School of approximately 300 Pre-K through 7^th grade students.

Known for its rigorous college preparatory programs, its graduates attend some the nation’s most prestigious colleges and universities. Steeped in tradition, Walsingham is a school like no other. Christ-centered and faith-filled, the school’s unique ecumenical environment welcomes students from all faiths. Proud of its Catholic identity, and grounded in the charism of the Sisters of Mercy, this welcoming ethos encourages students to grow in their own beliefs and in the tradition of service to others.

Reporting to the President, the Upper School Director assures that the mission and values of the Sisters of Mercy are shared and realized throughout the school community by collaborating with all constituencies and in partnership with the administrative team. Additionally, he or she must be an accomplished educator with proven success in advanced curriculum design and instructional leadership. The candidate must possess organizational vision and experience with appropriate academic credentials.

The Upper School Director must be committed to the growth of each individual -spiritual understanding, intellectual achievement, physical well-being and social responsibility.

Candidates are expected to be available to assume the responsibilities of the position by July 1, 2017.
