Kathleen Casey brings a unique perspective to Partners in Mission as a result of her multiple leadership positions in both corporate and educational environments where she has been instrumental in achieving financial, operational, and strategic objectives. In her work with Catholic schools, Kathleen has an established track record of increasing development and enrollment, building influential networks and enhancing the sustainability and spirituality of faith communities. By leveraging private sector corporate experience for the benefit of Catholic schools, Kathleen helps optimize both “mission and margin.”
Most recently Kathleen served as Associate Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Bridgeport (DOB), Connecticut, which operates 31 schools serving over 9,000 students. She was responsible for the advancement of sustainable school models and providing support for DOB faculty, staff, students and parents. She created and implemented the “Aspiring Future Leaders” program, developed a mission focused and accountable principal evaluation process, and was responsible for developing and leading the search process and mentoring of new principals.
Prior to joining the Office of the Superintendent Kathleen served as President of Immaculate High School (IHS), in Danbury, CT for 6 years. Under her leadership the School balanced the budget, grew enrollment, refocused and engaged the School Advisory, Athletic and Home School Boards and fostered community relations. During Kathleen’s tenure, development increased fivefold and enrollment grew over 30% all while increasing diversity and balancing male/female ratio. She implemented an international student program to increase the global awareness and diversity of the IHS student body. Kathleen also led the School Boards’ efforts to develop and implement a current and streamlined approach to marketing and strategic planning.
Kathleen began working in Catholic education in 2001 as a teacher at Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Atlanta, Georgia where she also served as an executive on the School Advisory Board. In 2006, Kathleen moved with her family to Connecticut and began working at St. Thomas Aquinas School and Parish in Fairfield, CT where she taught, served as an Advisory Board member, CCD teacher and Eucharistic Minister.
Prior to her career in academia, Kathleen spent 10 years as a Business & Senior Strategic Planner for General Motors Corporation where she was responsible for the marketing and strategic development of several key domestic and international business units.
Kathleen earned a MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management (‘87) and a B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign ('84) and is currently enrolled in the Creighton Catholic Leadership program. She and her husband, Chris, reside in Quechee, VT and are the proud parents of two grown children.
